Van Jackson-Weaver, Music Lessons
About
I am an independent musician with a diverse background in classical pedagogy and contemporary music in both the experimental and pop realms. I am interested in helping students of diverse musical backgrounds and proclivities develop skills that pertain to the modern musical landscape. My proficiencies include instrumental performance, audio engineering, Ableton Live, Max/MSP, analog and digital synthesis, music theory, and the history of Western Music. I have been performing music on stage since my early teens, from rock to pop to classical to experimental and electronic.
I have maintained my own private teaching studio since 2010, and held a position as Guitar Instructor at Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord, CA from January 2015 - May 2018. I have experience as a live sound engineer and as an event coordinator.
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, obtained in 2010, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College, obtained in 2020.
