Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Lessons are supposed to be fun...yes, work, but fun. In addition to working on the right and left hand techniques I work on the head, too. That is, coordinating the hands, learning to read music and tailoring teaching style to each students needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
60 years Seasoned Professional Guitarist/Drummer/Recording Artist/Composer/Producer
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35/ half hour
$70/ hour
plus a travel charge if I have to travel to the student.
How did you get started teaching?
At Santa Fe Community College, New Mexico, where I was an adjunct instructor for several years. Also taught at Grandmas Music and Sound, Music Mart and Musicality in Albuquerque, NM.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types...Beginners, Intermediate and advanced, all ages from 5 to 75 years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
All of my live performances and studio recording.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Let the teacher assist in instrument selection. Don't buy a guitar and then look for a teacher. Find the teacher first, then the guitar.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are the students goals? What does the student want to accomplish over time?
