Forest Hills Violin And Viola
About
Hello!
I am an educator and freelance violin teacher offering lessons Forest Hills, NY. I have over 20 years of teaching experience and cater to all ages. I specialize in the Suzuki method, and have completed training in violin books 1 through 8 at NY's premiere Suzuki school, School for Strings. While there, my mentors included Allen Lieb and Ekaterina Gerson. My students have gone on to attend Juilliard pre-college division, play in ensembles such as NJ Youth Symphony, and achieve perfect scores at NYSSMA. I strive to make my studio inclusive and take a holistic approach to working with my students by recognizing their individual strengths and weaknesses and catering to their personal interests.
I have performed in every major NYC concert hall including Carnegie, Alice Tully, David Geffen, Weill Recital Hall, and Symphony Space. I have most recently performed with NYC ensembles City Lyric Opera and the social activist orchestra Protestra.
I hold an AD and MM from NYU in violin performance where I was a scholarship student in addition to a BS from Mannes College of Music. My primary teachers include Sally Thomas, Ann Setzer, Claudia Schaer, and Oscar Ravina of the NY Philharmonic.
In addition, I have completed extensive coursework in psychology and child development (including courses with Alan Kadzin of Yale), and I have experience in working with neurodivergent children.
I am also trained in both units 1 and 2 of Music Mind Games, a groundbreaking educational method that presents general music concepts and music theory in a fun, accessible way.
