Hi! My name is Natalia and I love teaching music through several types of private and group lessons for all ages and levels!

I'm also thrilled to now be offering beginner-intermediate vocal lessons, as well as general music/theory/composing/song-writing/ear-training/aural skills/improvisation. I am classically trained but enjoy playing and teaching a variety of styles and genres including but not limited to contemporary, improvisation, pop, rock, r&b, blues, folk/fiddle, jazz, gypsy jazz, indie, and more. The violin, as well as voice, are very versatile instruments and so I teach in a way that focuses on ear training and note reading so that the student is able to play and perform any type of music and attain their goals. I cater my teaching to every individual student by using the Suzuki Method for violin and viola along with several other various methods and books. Whether a student is on the conservatory track or is a beginner just starting out,  I provide an encouraging and relaxed atmosphere while also focusing on excellent technique and thoughtful musicality. I want to help every student reach their goals, whatever they might be, while promoting a thoughtful, positive, joyful, and warm environment. Please contact me with any questions at all or to set up a high-discounted preliminary lesson to see if we could make a good fit. ;-)

I really enjoy getting to connect with so many different people through music. I love the challenge of finding new ways to suit every individual students' needs. I've worked with all age groups and levels, from 2yrs-75 and from beginners to professional players. Every student is unique and I enjoy getting to know them and what their goals are. I love to see students thriving and enjoying the process, as well as learning so much, and truly appreciating the beauty and value of music.

I've been teaching since I was in high school. My mother had a few students and she would often have me demonstrate for them when I was young. Then later she handed off her students to me. I then learned a lot more about teaching while studying at the Oberlin Conservatory and offering secondary lessons to other students as well as kids. Since then I've never stopped teaching. After Oberlin, I taught in Maryland at two different music schools, then switched to just one, Mike's Music in Ellicott City, MD where I had close to 60 weekly students. Since moving to New York, I taught at several music schools as well as in after school programs, but then eventually started my own studio and taught from home as well as traveled to students' homes.

COVID definitely impacted my teaching studio, but I have been teaching through Skype or Zoom online when possible. Now some students have started to come to me again in Bushwick, Brooklyn, but with important safety measures & precautions in place.

It has always been a wonderful experience to take on this special journey with my students. Teaching has brought me great joy in my life and has taught me so much.

I do have a website, but unfortunately, it has a virus right now and I'm in the process of getting it fixed. Hopefully, it will be back up shortly! In the meantime, you can see more reviews and info on Yelp, or just contact me. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, and also provide a resume and references upon request.

I have known Natalia for a long time and through our professional interactions, it has always been clear to me that she is an excellent teacher, as well as an incredibly skilled and creative musician. Her students are taught with love, consideration, and high standards. She has extensive teaching experience which is reflected in her students' high level of playing even as beginners. I've worked, rehearsed, and performed with Natalia. She can improvise really well and creates beautiful story on the violin. As a dancer, I could feel her heart in how she plays. It makes for some great performances!!
