Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always access a new students skill level and musical knowledge to best develop a lesson plan to help achieve their goals as efficiently as possible. Each lesson the student will be given a PDF breaking down everything covered as well as backing tracks, and videos of lesson concepts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering and Jazz Guitar Performance as well as a master's degree in Music Composition/ Arranging. I've taught many students over the past 9 years from all age groups. I've worked with complete beginners, college students, and adults who are coming back to their instrument after a long break. My goal is to help each student grow and feel comfortable on their instrument.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer an intro lesson priced at $30 for 45 minutes.
$25 for 30 minutes
$40 for 45 Minutes
$50 for 60 Minutes
How did you get started teaching?
I started showing friends and peers various concepts on guitar and piano and recieved very positive feedback from those around me. It was then that I decided I'd start giving lessons privately to people of all ages and its continued to inspire me. As I watch my students grow I feel incredibly privileged to be able to share my knowledge with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students in all age groups. I tailor lesson plans to suit every individual student's needs so what you end up having is a specific plan that is designed to get you where you want to be.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently composed a woodwind quintet based on the concept of dreams and our conscious state while we are sleeping. Looking forward to debuting this with the public when concerts are able to happen safely again!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It's very important that you get along with your music instructor. The best teachers I've ever had have made a tremendous impact on me and I take this along with me in my own career.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should have some goals in mind but also be aware that the process can take time to accomplish real success.
