Learning to play the piano was a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve been taking lessons from Janet now for five years. As an “adult” student starting from scratch, I was concerned that I would never really be able to understand music or become truly competent. When I look back to where I started from and how far I’ve come, I’m amazed. Janet is truly a genius at teaching. She makes difficult concepts easy to understand. And she truly understands the challenges of the adult learner. But learning is always enjoyable, never stressful. I look forward to my lessons and even my at-home practicing sessions. It’s become a kind of therapy for me! I would recommend Janet and the Fine Arts Music School to any who is serious about learning to play the piano.

Performers from the Fine Arts Music School were enthusiastically received at the Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, NY as they presented their annual Piano Community Concert Series Program on Sunday afternoon, November 12th. Combination themes of Thanksgiving songs, traditional hymns, with a novelty Spanish medley of Leyenda by Albeniz/Besame Mucho was well received by all.

The concluding part of the program presented a classical repertoire including the Liszt "Petrarch Sonnet" no.47, Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," Chopin's Polonaise No.3 and a grand finale of "Grande Valse Brillante" in E-flat major by Chopin.
