About

"Personal service with attention to detail is afforded to each customer whether your needs are large or small.

Private lessons from caring instructors are available, specializing in classical and fingerstyle but all styles of guitar can be accommodated. If you need custom arrangements of songs or pieces for guitar, that is my specialty.

I can make your guitar easier to play as well as sound better, or repair it if necessary. If you need music for a wedding or event, we can provide it. In short, this is a world of guitar to be explored!"

James Lorusso

Frequently asked questions

I do have a system of teaching with books I have written to teach how to read music but I also go by each particular students goals and the music they enjoy. I try to get each student to reach those goals as efficiently as possible, while still maintaining a focus on musical training in general.

I started out teaching people in my neighborhood and at school, how to play guitar on a basic level when I was 16 years old. I also went to the School of Visual Arts and while attending there, gave guitar lessons on the side. This was all before studying at the Westchester Conservatory of Music where I received a more formal traing in music. After that I went on to teach at the Conservatory, Manhattanville College, Westchester Community College and I still give private lessons.

I have taught students from 5 to 85 years of age. I have taught many students how to play Rock, Blues, Folk, Country, Jazz and Classical. I started out as a Rock and Blues guitarist and after going through many stages in my career my main focus now is Classical guitar.
