Dee Guitar Lessons provides a pragmatic, comprehensive approach to developing and polishing new skills on electric or acoustic guitar.
If you are a beginner looking to get started, great! If you already have some experience and you're hoping to advance past your current skill level, that's great, too!
I am more than happy to travel for the sake of teaching students how to hone their craft. I believe that a comfortable, familiar atmosphere where my students can feel safe and secure is much more conducive to learning and being receptive to new information.
Lastly, I cater the time length of the lesson around what works best for the individual. Everybody has a different learning style and everybody has a different threshold for how long they can sit in a guitar lesson. I will work with you to find a plan that works best for the way you learn best.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For beginners, I typically start the lesson by going over a few basic chords and the major and minor scales (it's not exactly the most exciting part but these are the building blocks of all of our favorite songs).
As the essential "building blocks" become more familiar, I encourage my students to come with a song in mind that they would like to learn. Of course, a certain amount of self-honesty is necessary and it is much more beneficial to push yourself within reason rather than set impossibly high standards. Baby steps are key.
As we learn your favorite songs, real-world examples of music theory at work will inevitably arise.
In short, the lessons are fun and engaging because you're learning how to play the songs you already love, but in doing so, you will learn the mechanical and theoretical skills needed to be a great guitar player.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 3 years of college education specifically geared toward teaching others. Albeit, my degree ended up being in Philosophy instead of teaching. Moreover, I have 5 years of guitar lessons and over 17 years of playing under my belt. I started as a guitar teacher under contract at City Music in Gardner, MA, and continued to teach private lessons after the contract expired.
