I am a full time Piano and Guitar Instructor with a music degree who is also a working musician (writing, recording and performing). I offer lessons in your home and I have 25 years experience teaching all ages, levels and styles of music. In that time, I have developed a unique approach that enables my students to understand and play anything they want to play, and not just to play songs by rote memorization or by copying the teacher. I focus on a personal approach, and customize my teaching methods to suit each individual student. I teach students of all ages, skill levels and styles. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have been teaching piano and guitar privately for over 25 years I tailor my lessons to what the student wishes to learn, along with learning the basics, such as note reading.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a music degree from Queens College, I have been teaching for over 25 years, and I have been performing, writing, and recording professionally since the age of 15.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when friends and people who saw me performing asked me to teach them how to do what I do.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught students as young as 4 1/2 as well as people in their 70s, and every age in between. I have taught beginners, intermediate, and advanced students who wanted to learn jazz, rock, pop, and classical music. In other words, every possible age, level, and style of music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have worked with artists as diverse as Leon Russell, Jason Bonham, Dee Snyder, Johnny Maestro, and Uncle Floyd!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try a couple of teachers before you settle on one. Find a teacher you are comfortable with, who is patient and really knows his stuff. (Like me!) And most of all, practice!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I comfortable with this teacher? Am I willing to spend time practicing? What are my goals, do I want to play professionally or as a hobby?
