About

I have been teaching guitar for over 25 years and love instructing students of all ages and levels, beginner through advanced. I have a lesson plan that I believe works best, however, details will vary depending on the preference and the needs of each student. In addition to guitar (which is my main instrument) I also teach electric bass, drums, piano and ukulele. I teach over 30 students per week and own an entertainment company and a band that performs at private events on most weekends. My band has been voted 'Best Live Band' by the readers of Westchester Magazine for the last 11 years and was featured on the cover of the 2019 Best Of Westchester issue. Please feel free to call, text or email me if you have any questions or you are interested in private music lessons.

UPDATE: I am currently teaching REMOTE MUSIC LESSONS online via the ZOOM app. This allows me to teach students located anywhere. If you have any questiions regarding online lessons... please don't hesitate to ask. -Thank you.

Tom has been teaching my teenage son for almost 3 years now. I marvel at the progress my son has made under Toms instruction, considering he had trouble even holding the guitar to start. Tom teaches him songs that my son requests, which makes it really fun for him to play. My son truly looks forward to his lessons with Tom and is a highlight of his week. Tom also has a great disposition. Awesome teacher and person!!!!!

Aside from being a really great person, who teaches in a relaxed but professional style, he knows so much about playing the guitar and just music in general. His talent is top tier, and he has shaped me into a much better player than I would’ve been without him. He is very calm and patient, but also passionate and invested in teaching. I can’t recommend him highly enough, as he has really helped develop my skill and interest. Wednesday night is definitely a highlight of my week!

By far the best teacher our son has had. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. Tommy is fantastic with kids. He’s both a father himself and one of the best guitar players in Westchester.

I’m the mom of one of Tommy’s students and couldn’t be more pleased with my son’s experience. Tommy is such a bright spot in our week, he inspires my son to play and makes learning fun. He has been with us about 4 years and we love him! He is professional, kind and a great teacher!

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I like to begin by asking some basic questions to get a feel for how much the student already knows about music and then I will go over the physical parts of the guitar and I will also show the student the correct way to hold the instrument and demonstrate proper technique. Once the student is somewhat comfortable holding and sitting with the guitar - I will usually begin working in a method book unless the student and I decide on another strategy for learning.

I started teaching lessons occasionally when I was a teenager. I had a few friends who would ask me to teach them how to play guitar because they admired the way that I played the instrument.

I have worked with hundreds of students over the years of various ages and levels. From beginners to advanced musicians and students as young as 5 years old through the age of 75.
