About

Hello. Thank you for finding me on lessons.com. I am Dr Mel Arnoff, pianist and piano teacher. My students range from age 7 to 77. I also take five and six-year-olds depending on their maturation and other abilities. I adjust my teaching style to accommodate the student's learning style.

Students learn to identify note names in both the bass and treble clefs, note durations (whole note half note eighth note, etc.,) articulation and other essential concepts and skills for playing piano.

I work toward making each lesson both instructive and fun. I teach students some short songs to play by ear and other easy songs they can play by notes for family and friends.

My rates are:

30 minute lesson. $35

45 minute lesson. $45

60 minute lesson. $55

Young students usually take 30 minute lessons. Adult students usually take 60 minute lessons. My lessons are face to face; I have also taught virtually when necessary.

I look forward to hearing from you by text or telephone call, 216-408-4495. You may also want to visit my website, Clevelandpianolessons.com

Frequently asked questions

Start with determing what the student may already know.  In the case of very young children, if i play three notes, can they duplicate it, does the student know the ABCs? How mature is this young student?   With adults, I ask them if they have had previous piano lessons or if they are able to play by ear.  I also ask them what their goal is in taking piano: self enjoyment? popular or classical music...?The are only some of the questions I ask before I determine whete to start with a particular student and what music or music series would be best for them.  .
