My teaching approach:

I am interested in teaching pure music; the reading of music then progressing on to chords, theory, scales in order of development, creates a foundation for communication. Music is a language. From this, all other aspects of music and playing the guitar are developed.

My influences are:

The Standards of Jazz, bebop, classic rock like Neil Young, Robert Fripp, Grace Slick. Blues: BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Popular; Adelle, Pharell Williams, Blake Shelton. There is so much great music in various genres that I love from Swamp Rock to ambient music.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

Any previous experience or other lessons are discussed. Bring books and analyze the students goals and personal expectations between student and teacher. I like to let the student know my teaching method, so they can decide if they are interested in learning via my method, as well as coinciding with their objective.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Each week we have a lesson that has been worked on. We review that lesson by the student playing the lesson. Any questions and my suggestions are discussed then. When appropriate, we play together. From there, the next step is decided and we move on in that direction; playing talking and finalizing all thoughts for that week.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
