What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Assess where the student is at and work the chord/ scales/arpegios/ vocabulary appropriate for the student's skill level.
Assess the direction styles and goals the student wishes to pursue, i.e., rock, jazz, folk, classical, blues, etc.
Theory, composition, impro over blues, rock, jazz, or combinations, etc..
Songs a student wants to learn or have the capability of learning with development of appropriate skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Oregon and a degree from the Guitar Institlute of Technology (GIT) in Los Angeles. Studied with players Don Mock, Joe Diorio, Robin Ford, and others.
class and individual guitar Instructor at Northwest Christian University.
Extensive studio recording and performance experience. Music Director for several live music productions with Ballet Fantastique. Extensive professional performance with Jazz, Fusion, soul/ funk, blues and rock bands in the Northwest.
