My teaching approach:I make sure that the fun stays in the lesson. Most students want to play because they enjoy music so I take that idea and try to run with it. I play songs they want to learn and work on the techniques involved in their favorite music because, if you like what you are playing you will probably practice more.My influences are:Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jemi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Pearl Jam, Type 0 Negative, Guns and Roses and the list just keeps going. I love anything that just rocks. My guitar lessons take place in:The teacher's studio or the student's homeGuitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas:Eugene, SpringfieldGuitar Techniques:Guidance In Equipment Selection, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Recording and Production, Improvisation, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitarYour first guitar lesson with me might include the following:It depends on their skill level. If they are a true beginner I start with explaining the guitar and how the lesson work is written, how to read tab and chord charts and how to hold a pick properly and strum. Then we build from there based on their music preference.A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:Start by tuning the guitar and finger warm-up exercises. After that we start working on techniques. I try to explain the theory behind what we are doing and and provide positive feedback on what can be done to help improve your skillThe qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:Someone that loves music more than they can describe. A person that is willing to practice daily regardless of their skill level. A person that is not affraid to smile.
