Music Masters
About
Music Masters is a full-service music education studio and retail store located in Eugene, Oregon. We offer lessons for all ages and all levels of experience. We currently have lesson availability for guitar, piano, voice, ukulele, banjo, drums/percussion, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, trombone, tuba, baritone, clarinet, saxophone, flute, and harmonica.
Our instructors each have an expansive musical background. They specialize in a huge variety of musical genres, from jazz to classical, musical theater to bluegrass, pop to avante-garde, and more.
Our teaching philosophy is one that is hard to find anywhere else. It follows from a few assumptions:
First, that every person comes to a lesson with a unique life perspective and learning style.
Second, that all people are musical in one way or another. It’s a part of being human.
Lastly, that there is no one-track method to teaching or learning.
What does that mean for our teachers and students? It means that we teach according to how your child (or you!) learns. We put musical enjoyment before musical perfection. Music should be accessible to everyone in all walks of life. We strive to cultivate a student's independence in their musicality, instrument technique, listening skills, and musical taste.
Becoming a master of music means to be able to pick up your favorite instrument, and play the kind of music that makes you and your circle of friends and family happiest, whatever that may be.
Let's make music!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In your first lesson, our instructor assesses your skill level and goals with your preferred instrument and tailors future lessons specifically for each student. Some students learn better in a stricter environment and others learn better with a more relaxed and fun atmosphere and we provide high quality music education for all types of students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our instructors are professional musicians who have a formal music education or at least equivalent teaching experience who have passed our rigorous process for knowledge, personability, and the ability to teach musical concepts in multiple ways so every student gets a high quality music education.
How did you get started teaching?
We believe that music education is essential for every person to grow as a well-rounded human being. Due to the current state of music education in schools we knew that more musical opportunities were required for adults and children alike. We cannot let music die out of daily life for lack of communal support.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with customers of all ages from as young as 3 to as old as 97. We offer lessons on most every instrument - just ask us!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our summer camps are our most exciting projects since we get to see some of our students who have taken lessons with us for years grow as musicians and perform on stage - many for their first time! We have footage of some of our camps on our website.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try a lesson with the teacher first. Often it's way more important to find an instructor you enjoy having lessons with than the most skilled player. The best teacher is one who helps you find the joy in music for yourself unless you are already self-driven in that aspect.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your musical goal with lessons?
