About

Hi! I’m Alexander Trull, a professional vocal and music instructor dedicated to helping students discover their voice and reach their musical goals. With a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and a foundation in opera and musical theatre, I teach healthy, expressive singing across genres — from classical and musical theatre to contemporary styles.

I have over a decade of teaching experience, working with singers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced performers. I focus on developing healthy vocal technique, confidence, and musical artistry so students can sing with ease, style, and personal expression.

In addition to private instruction, I have taught in programs such as Northwest Children’s Theater, Portland State University, Metropolitan Performing Arts, and Spotlight Theater, and I’ve served as a music director for many productions in community and professional theatres. Being both a performer and educator allows me to help students prepare for auditions, performances, and real-world musical opportunities.

I also play guitar and piano and integrate musicianship, performance skills, and practical music theory into lessons, so every student gains a well-rounded musical foundation. Whether your goal is to improve your technique, prepare for performances, or grow as a confident musician, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

My favorite part is the array of things we work on in our lessons. We start with warming up, ease into technique, and end with working on a song.

Alex is absolutely phenomenal, and really does well at pushing you to become a better singer. He finds way to meet you were you are, while also tailoring warmups and exercises to challenge you and improve technique. Lessons are always fun, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to strengthen their confidence in singing!

Alex is training me in voice, music theory: keys, chords composition, ear training, and sight reading. He is a wonderful musician, has a very good ear, and is fun to work with. I was looking for a voice teacher, and got so much more. He has opened up the world of music for me, and given it structure and order. Im so grateful. Thank you Alex!! Manuela

I have known Alex for five or six years, and have had many lessons from him.
I am 74 years old, and had never had a voice lesson until I met Alex. I dont learn as fast or remember as well as I used to, but Alex has helped me tremendously. He is amazingly perceptive when he listens to my singing, and he is gifted in turning his perceptions into clear and actionable instructions for improvement.
On top of all that, he has a joyful sense of humor. Lessons are never a drag, they are always a treat.

I have never felt like I have improved faster than when I started taking lessons with Alex. I feel like I am always pushed to do my best, but feel very supported at the same time.
