My teaching approach: instruction is my forte. We talk. We play. I work w/ you to recommend a path to follow that will lead you to your musical destinations. I have group classes available as well. I love bringing music into people's lives. Sometimes it's through performance (I play professionally) but I'm particularly passionate about teaching. I enjoy working with beginners as well as advanced players (and everyone inbetween). I have two studios (NE and SE Portland, OR). One teachings space is at 5511 N. Albina Ave. the other is at 3130 SE. Hawthorne. I have a sliding scale for lessons. We can discuss this.
My two passions in life are music and education. My life is awesome and amazing.
Learning guitar with Adrian has been so much fun. He challenges us in just the right way. He differentiates for the various skills in the class. He creates a very supportive and respectful environment.
I began studying guitar with Adrian 3-1/2 years ago after not having played music for 30 years. I have learned more from him in that time that I did previously in 13 years of study. Adrian enjoys teaching and knows how to teach, and has encouraged me to do my best and have confidence. It has truly been one of the best experiences of my life.
My students work with me to make lessons fun and motivating. Most people want to make music because it's enjoyable. However, we all know that some of the work isn't all that fun. I help people decide what is worth the time to meet their goals. I offer inspiration to get through the hard stuff.
I studied guitar at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and earned a BA in Music Education from Miami University.
