My teaching approach: I've studied with mostly classical guitar instructors, so my approach to technique and method is based around classical guitar. But, I play in rock bands, so I try to meld the classical technique with rock guitar. I play acoustic steel string guitars and acoustic nylon string guitars as well as electric guitar. Currently I am working with the band Obscured By Clouds, and doing solo and band shows with my cover band. I enjoy teaching music, the theory and practice is a constant source of inspiration. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually mix music fundamentals and theory with fun stuff. If a student needs more fundamentals I will stress that or vice versa.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.M. in music performance from Portland State(2002) and 3 years of additional music education at Mt. Hood C.C. and Ohlone College
