Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

A typical "first" guitar lesson begins with gaining an understanding of the student's musical goals and an evaluation of the student's current skill level and musical knowledge. This is done by offering the student an opportunity to discuss their experience with the guitar and to play examples of what they have learned already. Setting learning goals with the student also helps them participate in how the lessons are paced, what will be learned and when the goals are expected to be reached. .

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

All lessons include playing, listening and exploring. To foster a gainful learning experience for the student, audio recordings, specialized sheet music and/or charts may be used. All students learn differently and require instruction that is custom designed for their learning style. For some, learning to read and write notation is the goal while others may prefer to learn songs by their favorite artists from simple charts. Though the approach may differ for

each student, full engagement and dedication is offered to all who wish to learn.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

The ideal guitar student; Makes an honest effort to practice and be prepaired for their lessons each week, but forgives themselves when falling short of that effort. The ideal guitar student; Never fears telling the instructor that they've changed their mind about what they want to learn. The ideal guitar student; Learns that the words "I can't" really mean "I'll get this with a little more practice." The ideal guitar student; Balances their musical education with their scholastic education. The ideal guitar student; Shares their musical gifts with family and friends.
