Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have a conversation during the Trial Meet and Greet to discuss goals and learning styles, as well as general likes and musical passions. This way we can go forward with clear understanding and work towards catering lessons to each invidivuals needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our instructors at Northwest School of Music have either a degree in Music, in process of their degree, and/or have direct experience in both music teaching and performing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We are pro rated so every month is the same (these prices are NOT including one of the three required membership options, ranging from $5-$15 per month)!
30 minute lessons: $130/month
45 minute lessons: $177/month
60 minute lessons: $230/month
45 minute group lessons: $100/month
45 minute Kindermusic class: $75/month
How did you get started teaching?
The Executive Director at Northwest School of Music, Mallory Livingston, began teaching at her own private studio when she was 14 years old, under the suggestion, direction, and mentorship of her piano instructor, Kristin Vining, at Witmen College in Walla Walla.
After joining the team at Northwest School of Music as a piano and voice instructor, she later became the owner and Executive Director in June of 2017.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students of all ages and abilities. Children as young as 3 years old are sometimes ready for private lessons (otherwise we have Kindermusic classes available), and students gray with wisdom can be ready to begin or continue their musical journey as well!
