About

Tim Crosby is all about the personal approach. Getting to know his students - really know his students - has shown over and over again to be the most successful method of helping them to discover where their true musical talents lie. They may start out on one instrument and end up falling deeply in love with a completely different one. It's all good!

Tim is a great teacher. Flexible, intuitive, and a great guide to better musical practice no matter what your level or specific musical interest. His experience as a teacher, and versatility as an performer/instrumentalist/singer--guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle--adds immeasureably to the experience, as you get to have the experience of playing with, rather than for, your teacher.

It has been great taking lessons from Tim Crosby. He is a very knowledgeable instructor who shapes the lessons to the needs of the student. Tim has taught for many years, performs professionally, and has recorded a number of albums. Tim has also won national awards for his song writing. If you want to take your music to the next level I highly recommend taking lessons from Tim Crosby.

    Frequently asked questions

Getting to know them.  It has been proven again and again that really getting to know your client is the best way to help them achieve their goals.

Ear training, theory, appropriate written materials, parroting/mirroring, online recording research - there are so many wonderful ways to help students right now that match up with their particular way of absorbing information in a way that works for them.

And listening.  Above all else.  I listen.

A minor in music from Willamette University is only one small piece of a lifelong education in the study of music.  An award winning singer-songerwriter and performer along with my wife and music partner Kathy Crosby, we have spent our lives traveling around teaching, mentoring, leading workshops, playing along with, and generally helping others to find their own joy in music.
