Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When meeting a new student, the first lesson is always to give both student and teacher time to get to know one another, and to assess the student’s interests, goals and current ability level in order to be able to begin a highly productive and satisfying series of lessons going forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
instruction given by teacher with both undergraduate education in Music, and graduate education in Music history, theory, musicology and graduate Music education
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, pricing is based upon half hour, 45 minutes or full hour lessons. No charge for traveling unless the student’s home falls outside the regular travel radius. Discounts are offered for families with multiple students in the home, scholarship student opportunities, and prepaid lesson packages.
How did you get started teaching?
Beginning in grade school my music teacher recruited me to work with and help the other students. I continued to tutor students in my school as well as those in other schools in our district through high school graduation. Once in college, studying Music, my teaching continued and expanded to include students who contacted the university seeking Music instruction. Eventually my teaching studio expanded by word of mouth and continued to grow and expand over the years.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have included beginners through advanced levels of all ages from four through adult retirees. I’ve also worked as a Music therapist in a nursing facility, have worked with students with disabilities including various special needs and students on the spectrum, and have taught classes and ensembles at a number of private schools and Catholic schools in order that they could offer a music curriculum to their students.
