About
I have played classical guitar for 12 years. I've studied with Allen Krantz, the head of the Temple Guitar program and John Williams, a Curtis graduate and current professor at Rowan University.
I have always been appreciative of my teachers and have experienced first hand how effective communication and sufficient motivation translates into better playing. I am new to teaching but feel very confident in teaching beginning players the basics - right and left hand positioning, how to strike the strings to achieve good tone, how to shape nails, reading both notes and tablature, rhythm, and maybe most important of all how to practice.
I am a dentist by trade and many of my patients are scared or haven't seen a dentist in years - I pride myself on my ability to put patients at ease with effective communication, finding common ground and helping my patients understand what's going on. I think this ability will translate well to teaching beginners on guitar. My goal is to treat each student as an individual and learn their strengths and weaknesses, and by what method they learn best.
I am available on weekends and weekend evenings. I live close to Broad and Spring Garden in Philadelphia. My rate is $30/hr but we can do a free first lesson to see if it's a good fit.
