Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually meet with them and discuss what they want to learn, and assess a baseline for strumming and fretwork. Then, depending on the initial proficiency assessment, we get right to work. Most of the students I have worked with have minimal experience with the instrument, so I try and make those basics as fun as possible. Strum patterns are important to work with rhythm. Chords and single notes are great for strengthening the fingers and building calluses. My teacher went really quickly into covering the songs I wanted to play. The basics fit nicely into that style. And thats a style I wish to emulate. Its music. The study ahould be fun and uplifting. NOT DRUDGERY.
