About
My teaching approach: I cater my approach to the individual's goals and ability. Every student is different. Normally I like to combine music theory and technique with teaching them songs they want to play. Balance is the key, in my opinion, to keeping a student learning and enjoying themselves. My influences are: to name a few: Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, EVH, Randy Rhoads, Al Di Meola, David Gilmour and Dean Deleo... I'm very flexible...during the day from about 11am to anytime at night 7 days a week Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I talk to them about what they want to accomplish, what kind of music they like and what they possibly DIDN'T like about a previous teacher's methods. Then i have them play to see where their technical ability is and address that if need be. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I have the student warm up with scales etc and then jump into whatever theory or song we're working on at the time. I don't really use any books but i do have the students write down things in a notebook or tab sheet. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Someone who loves to play and really wants to progress at the instrument. Enjoying it is the key to success, and that's my job. I offer online lessons exclusively so that I can work with great students wherever they're located!
