    Frequently asked questions

Discuss their personal goals and find the best method for the individual to learn and grow.  If a prgram can be deleoped around their personal interests, their engament and progress is far better.

I'm the founder of Tonal Autonomy which is a network of musicans, producers, sound designers and educators around the Nashville area that specialize in custom music for video and education catered for the DIY musican.  I hold an undergraduate degree in Music Theory and Composition, over 20 years of live performance, and 12 years working full time in the music instrument business. I've traveled to over 3,000 musical instrument dealerships nationwide and trained thousands of employees working at the local level of music education and retail.

No standard system. Completely depends on the level of education provided.  Beginner instrument lessons are $40 for an hour lesson. Sometimes the student is only available for 30 minute sessions.  DAW, sound design, music theory, music marketing and ear training lessons are $60 for an hour and a half.  In my expierence these topics need longer sessions.  This also comes with customized practice plan to be worked on the students own time.

while attending music conservatory I taught theory, piano and guitar to beginners as a job to help pay for school.

I have extensive expierence with all levels of students.  I've taught everything from Kinder Music classes in Nashville as well as college level theory and songwriting.

Starting my publishing company and getting my first major sync!

Have a conversation about your goals, expectations, likes and dislikes before committing. There's no better learning expierence than having a positive meeting of the personalities between a teacher and student. It's just as important as practice, in my opinion.

How much time per week are you really willing to dedicate to growing your skill and knowledge?

What is it exactly you want to accomplish?

Think about how you yourself learn best. Are you more visual learner or more conversational learner? Does being shown real reference tracks to ideas being discussed help or hurt your process, and if it's not helpful, what is?
