About this pro

Learning an instrument should be fun! I structure all of my lessons around your specific goals / musical interests because thats why you picked up the instrument in the first place, right? 🎸 🤘

I love what I do and I'm beyond grateful to be able to make a living doing it. Every since I picked up a guitar at 8 yrs old, music has been my passion and I've found so much joy in sharing that passion with others.

My son has taken drum lessons with Dylan since he was 5. We've loved it! He gets really excited when he gets to work with him and it's helped his focus improve a lot. We just started learning guitar (both my son and I) so we could practice together and it's been a really cool time. You won't regret working with Dylan!

Dylan has been an awesome instructor so far to both my son and daughter. I love how he spends time exploring what makes them excited in music and makes it fun for them while tying in the skills they need to know! Thanks Dylan!!

Dylans been our guitar teacher for 3 years. He’s worked with my son to not only teach him guitar but also helped him find his love of music. The lessons are fun and my son enjoys seeing him each week. I’d recommend Dylan as a teacher to any parent who is looking for a fun yet educational activity for their child to do.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Our first lesson is spent going over your goals, if you've had any formal training and learn about what style of music inspires you. People want to learn an instrument for all different reasons and I believe knowing that information is crucial in how I tailor my lesson plans for them!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a full time touring musician with 20+ years experience on guitar and 15+ years on various other instruments, singing and songwriting. Aside from teaching lessons for the past decade, I have persued my passion as a Country artist writing, recording, and touring across the US and beyond. www.dylanjakobsen.com

I do offer discounts if multiple new lessons are signed up for (i.e. sibings, friends, parents, etc) and can work with family on cost if money is a stressor!

How did you get started teaching?

I kind of stumbled into it! What started with 1 student almost a decade ago now, grew tremensely through word of mouth and provided me with a way to get into music full time! Thankful!

What types of students have you worked with?

My youngest students have been around 5 years old. Right now I have a range of clients from 5 years old - Adult. I have some experience working with children who have ADD, ADHD and Autism as well.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
