What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with the student /explain to them the parts of the guitar/earn a few "cowboy chords" then explain the fingerings for the chords : "E, A and D".
These chords are basic to every guitar student and other chords are added week by week. If there is an interest in styles such as rock, rhythm and blues, classical or flamenco then I can offer the student those disciplines.
Most students who start out, usually begin at rock or classical, depending on their listening experience. for example, if they listen to popular music, usually a course i

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My early years spent in university, (University of North Texas, North Carolina School of the Performing ArtsSA, Junior college~Tarrant County Community College
If the student request piano, I can also teach piano. REcently, I have been implementing "piano exam" materialfor spring exams to test the student based upon a universal system.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard is 30 dollars a/ half-hour or a month at $120 ( 4 lessons)within a 25 mile radius from my address If you sign up for more lessons or more time than the rate drops according to what you and I can agree on.
I can also teach private lessons for family classes that have a private room set-up for just that.
How did you get started teaching?
I worked at a music store partime while working a day job.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children 6-10; 11-14 years old.
Adults who needed to learn as a favorite pastime.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I prepare students for recitals. In the past three years, I have had summer and winter recitals so parents can see and experience their children's progress. Also, its a great way for young musicians' to meet other students in their age group and for parents to see value for their time and energy.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure he/she is consistent; keeps a journal with dates, payments and times of the lessons and can perform on the instrument.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If a child with a parent can be open to understanding how to set goals and meet them, then I can help them. Practicing is learned; it begins with 10-15 minutes a day; experiencing the pleasure of accomplishment on an instrument such as on the piano or guitar is invaluable; a desire to play or perform a favorite piece, song or exercise should be the reason to begin lessons.
