In year 2020-2021, we are going to have performance workshops with private lessons. Performance workshops allow students to share a prepared piece with other students and their families in a recital setting. Workshops help to motivate students to practice by giving them a goal, reason, and time frame to learn a new piece. It is also very motivating for the students to hear others perform. Students gain confidence in their abilities to perform and will hear different pieces and new composers that they would like to play. Performance Workshop can be conducted in studio or online platform such as Zoom in order to comply with city, county, state or national rules and guidelines

Teaching music is not just weekly piano lesson; we enjoy to have an hour a week lesson for more than ten years. Sometimes, we write college recommendation for students, offer advice on how to raise their grades and celebrate their accomplishment.

    Frequently asked questions

We understand that every child is different, through research and communication, we map out student’s curriculum plan to assure a healthy, efficient and effective progress. Students are encouraged to develop the proper music reading and technical skill that are necessary to make music a part of their lives. To become proficient in music, a student must understand how music works, how practice works, and how his or her own mind and body work. In the end, students learn to express themselves more openly and communicate with others through music.

When Hsin-Yi Nebeker was pursuing both music degrees, she had taught at schools for three years. After graduating with master degree, she taught another year in the community school for Austin Independent School District. Then she opened her private studio for five years.  In 1998, she decided to spend her time as a stay at home mom and raise the children, so she closed the studio, and coached her own children for eight years. When her children are older, she reopened the studio and have been teaching since 2009.

Helen Nebeker is going to teach online lesson only, starting fall of 2020.

We specialize in piano, piano chamber, and theory. Offer online and in-person lessons to age 6 and up.

The students should know their long term and short term goal in music.  The teacher can discuss with them often and understand the students' needs and help them to achieve their musical goals.

The students (and their parents) could prepare a list of the pieces they like to listen to and hope to learn.  From that list, the teacher can see what style of the music the students want to learn.
