About

Native Spanish Flamenco guitar player with over 20 years of teaching experience and 10 living in Austin, TX.

Teaching from traditional Flamenco guitar, Brazilian Bossa-Nova, Latinoamerican music (like Boleros, Caribbean music...) or simply playing guitar with fingerpicking and strumming technique.

Teaching harmony concepts from the scratch and also helping you out to learn to use a guitar either to sing along or to figure out songs you like.

I truly enjoy teaching the amazing hand's technique that Flamenco guitar has developed.

Also showing the beautiful music of the different countries where I have been living and giving my students a multicultural musical knowledge about styles and rhythms.

José is an amazing teacher!! He is very knowledgeable and has amazing guitar skills that motivate me to practice more. I found him on here during quarantine and we would do lessons whenever we could, he is very accommodating to you’re schedule needs. He is very patient and kind, never made me feel bad when it took me too long to remember a chord😂 By far the best guitar teacher I’ve ever had!

Frequently asked questions

First class is always special, where I can see who the student is, what he/she wants to achieve and more important, what makes the student happy and eager to play and practice.

Asking for some specific aspects of guitar/music to see how open and interested the student is in them.

Discuss and design the path that I think the student should follow.

I have been playing guitar since very early age, and despite an old school flamenco guitar teacher, all I know is self-taught and after playing with musicians from many different countries and styles and being involved in many musical proyects for the last 20 years.

Lessons cost 60$ and they tipically last, at least, an hour.

I was living in Granada, Spain, when I started teaching guitar (around 1999).

After 18 years teaching...all types! Students coming to me usually have a specific goal or interest. I also love listening the reason why Flamenco music has caught their attention :)

Sometimes, my average student is someone not just willing to learn Flamenco guitar, but just to learn fingerpicking styles, scales and chords (and how they relate), to learn many different styles of songs...

All the top Flamenco guitar players that are coming to perform in Austin!

Find someone you feel relaxed with and makes you learn stuff that really interests you and make you happy.

What do I really want to learn?

What concepts or ideas sound interesting to me?

Do I have a bunch of hours per week to practice?
