First of all, I apologize to any earlier inquiries. I opened this profile about 9 years ago and have since been very nomadic. I am pretty established at the moment so I am willing to take students once again.
I am a TX and NM certified teacher who specializes in guitar. My teaching slots are limited during the school semesters because I teach full time at Chapin High School.
I specialize in Classical and Jazz guitar; however, I can teach general guitar so that you may work your way into your preferred genre.
I teach all students how to read music, as it is an essential skill in music. If you are looking to learn guitar but are not willing to learn to read music at an intermediate level, then I am unfortunately not the teacher for you. Please don’t let this scare you away; reading music is easier than it seems. I am not a difficult teacher, but I am a challenging one.
I take students from ages 9 and up. I have taught younger but I stay away from anyone younger than 9 now of days. Guitar is very abstract at moments, and in my experience the students’ younger than 9 struggle a lot to grasps those concepts, at least at the level that I teach.
If you are looking to learn guitar from scratch or looking to take it a bit more seriously, be sure to contact me. Space is limited as I have a very busy schedule at work.
Thank you and I hope to work with you soon.
I enjoy teaching guitar because it benefits the student, myself, and the music community. I feel pretty spoiled to be teaching my passion. I also get inspired when I see my students making progress; nothing can compare to that feeling.

I usually introduce myself, then I assess the student’s current level, then take it from there.
