Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before any paid lesson there will be a 20-minute Meet and Greet, to: make sure we're a good fit, discuss your goals, have a mini-lesson and answer any questions you may have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Violin Performance, and have plenty of teaching experience, from beginners to college students, from 7 to 50 year-olds!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I will give you a discount if you pay for a month in advance and I'm willing to work with your budget as much as I can.
How did you get started teaching?
My mom is an amazing violin teacher! I've seen her teach since I was a kid and have learn a lot from them as well as from all my teachers in college. I became my mom's assistant when I was 14yo and I've had a passion for teaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
My youngest ones are 8-9 year-old students with no experience. I've managed to teach them from scratch over the internet, it's very good for the kids, now more than ever, to have an engaging activity that doesn't depend on a screen. I have prepared pre-college students to get admitted into college succesfully, and post-bachelor students to get in a Master's Degree. I've also had older students that want to pick up a violin for the first time in their lives. It is indeed never too late!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fortunate to have been performing with the Midland-Odessa Symphony in Texas as their Assistant Concertmaster lately. The Covid-19 pandemic is taking a serious toll on musicians and I feel that being a part of such a commited, caring orchestra is a privilege that many musicians around the world don't have. I invite you to look up their next performance and come visit! You'll find high quality classical music and a warm community. Www.Mosc.org
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A teacher-student relationship is a very special one. Take the time to get to know your prospective teacher and make sure they understand you as a person and that they are going to do their best to help you thrive.
I always tell my students: I don't want you to be as good as me, I want you to be BETTER!
