Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give new students an outline of the material they will be learning and introduce them to the main principles that underlie all self defense situations. Ideas are first. Techniques are second.
Next, I show two or three fundamental techniques that work in the most common situations depending on gnder and size.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied Wing Tsun Kung Fu since 1982 and taught it since 1988. Before that I studied Karate, Judo, and Aikido, but never found the practicality and realism I was looking for in a self defense system.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Introductory classes last 30 minutes and cost only $20. After that, you can choose one of our convenient package (or "block") deals:
10 Lesson Block: $40 per lesson;
5 Lesson Block: $60 per lesson;
Single Lesson: $80 per lesson.
Each Lesson last one full hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I met my first Wing Tsun instructor and started taking classes in Germany in 1981, a few months before moving to Florida. My teacher, Si-Hing Curtis Dittrich, later followed me there for a year, as there were no Wing Tsun instructors in Florida at that time. When he returned to Germany, I was forced to start teaching so I could have partners to work out with. That's how it all started.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types and all ages from 12 on up.
I personally wish, though, that more women were interested in learning self defense. Wing Tsun was invented by women and is ideally suited for getting them ready to fight back.
