Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always assess what the student already knows, then fill in the gaps that are missing, in order to progress at an even and balanced pace. I ask questions to encourage thinking, not just recite answers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music and Theatre from Stephen F Austin State University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally I use a Flat fee of $100 per month for one 30 min lesson per week, plus the cost of books. For multiple weekly classes, I'll generally have a discount if combined.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching while working for a company where I taught band in multiple private/public schools. Afterward, I would teach classes piano, guitar, and voice. Aftee working for them, I realized this was something that I really enjoyed and began doing it on my own.
