About
I am an experienced teacher, still a performing pianist, who strongly believes in the power of music for balancing the technology that our kids grow up with today. I'm an honors graduate of Barnard College, where I was also awarded departmental honors (music) and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa; I later pursued an interest in musicology, earning a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas. I have performed both as a soloist and as an accompanist and chamber musician for many years, in the New York area, nationally, and internationally, with members of the New York Philharmonic and other musicians. For 19 years, I worked as a pianist at the School of Eurythmy in Rockland County, NY, during which time I also served for five years as tour pianist for Eurythmy Spring Valley Stage Group, touring internationally in Europe and across America. I have taught piano in the NY area, in Arizona, and now in the Austin TX (Round Rock) area.
I enjoy greatly the way that students process and learn and discover, sometimes without realizing it, that they are succeeding - also in bringing them into an awareness of great music and how to play it, I am contributing to their lives and futures.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student has already studied piano, I ask him/her to play something so that I can get an idea about the level and the playing style. I work individually with each student at their own level, being conscious of their way of learning. New students are approached with the same purpose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
