Fun With Folk
About
We sit down to teach you not only the basics of what folk and acoustic guitar is, but also go into more depth learning why our instruments work the way they do, more into basic maintainence and proper care and repair.
All around we still want you to learn, but here you will begin from a foundation that has carried me for 20 years of fun, song writing and guitar happenings!
I enjoy teaching and watching those learn that are being taught.
I enjoy watching myself grow and get better and better and better, because I have to stop and learn myself so that I can teach.
For me the horizon is just the beginning!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We sit down and discuss what the student plans on getting out of lessons, their game plan, goals, dreams and how we as a team will build to get towards that goal.
After all the initial meet and greet, we get to work.
Each student must be prepared to come equipped to, TRY TRY TRY IF AT FIRST... KEEP TRYING!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since I was 11, and since then I have played in numerous bands and church/college performances and charity benefits.
I continue to teach people basics so that they can jump into making chords and strum to songs and sheet music.
I teach the way I was taught.
One note at a time.
The basics start here, at the FOLK foundations.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Basic Lessons- $40/hr
Advanced Lessons- TBD
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching my Aunts coworker how to play guitar when I was in my 20's... it started and then as we went I started tp notice we had more students.
We did group practices for a while, and then one day I began teaching one on one lessons.
I taught what I knew and the way I was schooled in guitar, so FOLK music became the basis for where to begin.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with ages 8 and up.
I am teaching my Dad how to play currently, if that shows you that I can work with any ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Teaching my son the guitar.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone that is going to show you what that guitar is all about and not just teach you how to play ROCK!
Anyone can learn advanced music, however a solid foundation builds a sturdy house... so if you want to "play" guitar, you will have tp start somewhere simple.
I teach folk, because it teaches you basic chords and believe it or not, folk is a solid foundation onto rock, country and blues.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you ready to practice allot?
Are your fingers ready to hurt a little, sometimes allot?
Can you commit to this, no this is not a toy, you want to get good, you'll have to practice every day!
Are you able to set aside the type of music you love, for a time everyday to learn and play a sound you may not be into at all? ( Basic guitar=FOLK )
KNOW that although you will learn a genre you dont want to, it is for foundational purposes that you want to learn these basics.
Are you going to take your lessons seriously, please DONT WASTE MY TIME.
