Students not only become great musicians under my instruction, but I am absolutely committed to the student learning music that they are interested in instead of forcing them into a book's curriculum that has them learning simple children's songs that are completely boring and uninteresting.
When the student (of any age), is engaged and happy, the learning process becomes a lot more fun and as a result, they learn and absorb much more.
It's all about good communication and having a very engaging and personal syllabus.
I love people and seeing their eyes light up as they develop as a musician and performer. Nothing is better than that.
FOLLOWING his dad as a GREAT ARTIST in the OPERA world
He is a talented instructor who brings with him a broad variety of musical repertoire.
Mr. Bailey is a fantastic teacher. He has so much musical knowledge to give and he is excellent at explaining and teaching that knowledge to his students. He is continually supportive and he believes in his students. He works well with any experience level. He helps his students not only become better musicians, but better people. He truly goes above and beyond his requirements as a music teacher. It was truly a blessing to have him as a teacher and mentor.
I'm very grateful for this opportunity to tell you about Lee - my friend and vocal coach. I met Lee at our mutual church gig and he quickly became my friend. We shared stories of our personal lives and goals. As I learned more about him and his musical background, I realized that he would be an ideal vocal coach for me. I am an older singer who studied vocal performance at university 50 years ago and was expected to perform solos at this church's services. I have always considered myself to be a chorister, not a soloist, so I needed a coach to help me. Once I started working with Lee, I began to hear a new sound - one that could, with his help, perform solos with a new confidence. My voice started feeling limber and strong, while being able to support softer passages with ease. Lee's studio techniques made me feel comfortable enough to try new things with my voice while regaining strength and fluidity. I cannot say enough about Lee - he is a consummate professional whether he is performing or in his studio with voice and instrumental students of all ages and walks of life. I consider myself lucky to have him as a vocal coach and a dear friend.
Finding out what the student's personal goals are.
What music they love and listen to.
I then personalize a structure/syllabus especially for the individual student. I do not use a standard curriculum because in my opinion, one size doesn't always fit all.
We're all different and different approaches are necessary.
That is my job to find that out.
I am totally transparent and I'm very approachable. I do my best to smooth out any fears or negative thoughts as soon as possible. I the student is relaxed and confident, they are going to love music. If music can be fun and interesting, then it won't feel like a chore.
My policy is that my students don't practice...they go home and play.
