After graduating cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, Takenya began her 14-year tenure as a Dallas music educator.  There she taught well over 11,000 students to love and appreciate music in varied forms. Students wonderfully sang in Latin, French, and German, created their own instruments from scratch, and grew to be able to aurally identify music over 300 years old with great ease and finesse.  While teaching in Dallas, “Protect the Earth”, a song Takenya wrote for Earth Day, was sung by over 7 combined school choirs.  She maintains her State Board of Education certificate as an all-level music instructor.

As a consummate learner, Takenya is currently pursuing a Master Certificate in Music Production and Technology from Berklee College of Music Online, earning straight A’s, and is expected to graduate in the summer of 2017.  During her studies, Takenya has written and produced music for high-profile podcasts and business owners.

Also, serving our country as an Active Duty Reservist, Takenya uses her musical skills and specialized training to serve in a hospital environment- even when no formal hospital may exist.  Blessed with three children who came through her and three children who came to her, Takenya and her husband, James, live and work in Temple, TX.

We offer Monthly, Semester (save 5%), and Yearly (save 10%) pricing programs.  Pricing plans are based on 32 sessions per year and have an annual $50 registration fee.

Music forever changed Takenya Battle’s world the moment she took her first piano lesson in the 4th grade. Takenya spent her childhood and teenage years singing her way to state level competitions and played her way through several churches and bands. By the time Takenya attended college at Florida A&M University, on a full academic scholarship, she had already given numerous school performances in various choirs. While there in Tallahassee, FL, Takenya was afforded a stellar education in drumming, woodwinds, and strings, even though classical piano and classical voice were her primary instruments of study. College semesters often entailed singing and performing in Italian, French, and German.  Negro spirituals and English songs were also required learning.  The semester wasn’t complete without accompanying someone and performing a piece by Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, or Rachmaninoff.

We have adult learners who have always wanted to play the piano, husbands seeking to sing a special song to wives in Italian, French, or German (and of course English), people who previously felt their hands were just like two left feet, teens who thought that reading notes on the staff may as well have been written in Greek, homeschool families looking for General Music instruction, little ones who are exposed to the magic of musical play time, children who sing EVERYWHERE, ALL the time, ALL day long, and people looking to audition for local productions or national talent shows.

At our last concert, we were able to solicit donations for the MusicLink Foundation.  The MusicLink Foundation is a non-profit organization that puts music lessons within the reach of children who may not otherwise receive them.
