About

I have been associated with Yoga with more than 12 years of practice. I was brought into Yoga by my parents who also have been practicing Yoga and Pranayama in India for over 20 years mnow. This one powerful ancient tool can help work towards a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. I hold a 200 hr Yoga Alliance YTT certification in Iyengar Yoga from Center For Yoga of Seattle. I have experience in instructing private classes on alignment based yoga for beginners for a year now. After finishing training, I continued practicing under my Mentor who is a senior Iyengar Teacher and also teaching few friends foundational asanas on weekends along with my co-yoga partner Jazz. We started a yoga community called Seattle Satsanga where we pledged to make Yoga accessible to people who are willing to learn. We organize knowledge sharing platforms for coming up with evolved ways to nurture the body so that the body becomes more functional while also staying rooted in the path of Yoga. I continued my yoga education, learning Trauma Informed Yoga workshop under Hala Khouri and Yoga therapeutics workshop under Amy Ipolliti at 90 Monkeys yoga school. I am constantly striving to keep myself updated with knowledge related to movement and yoga Biomechanics so that I can effectively benefit my students. I am currently preparing for a Functional Range Control certification upcoming in May. Prior to getting into Fitness industry, I used to be a Software Engineer with over seven years experience after which I shifted to US as a dependent and unable to work here. This is when I took Yoga more deeply and made it the most powerful tool in my life to give me strength during these years.

I take Yoga and Pranayama very passionately and look to reach out the same to others to help improve mental health as well as physical strength, flexibility as we age. Since Iyengar Yoga is purely alignment based, it involves usage of Props like Blocks, Chairs,Ropes, Bands, Bolsters and Blankets to provide safe modifications for people who have never excercised or less mobile in their daily lives. If you are looking to improve on flexibility, strength and improve your overall health inside out, Yoga is the right path that you can choose.

    Frequently asked questions

Before beginning a class I need to know of any injury or any chronic disease that the client has. I encourage students to engage in activities in order to be more effective in picking up foundational asanas and benefit from them. For example, walking, running or any other manual miscellaneous work at home or in the garden.

I have been a Yoga practitioner for more than 12 years and hold a 200 hr Yoga Alliance YTT in Iyengar Yoga/Hatha Yoga. I am also practioner of Vinyasa Yoga and sequencing. I usually tailor my classes beginning with all the foundational Yoga Asana as per Iyengar Routine, Sun Salutation and then a sequence in Vinyasa. Its a progressive mindful practice as we learn all the basic asanas we move forward into a flow practice.

25-50$ per class per person based on amount of effort involved and also travel.

I am a beginner Yoga Teacher which means I teach mainly beginners. So far have taught middle aged women after their pregnancy whose goal was to reduce excess weight. I have also taught in India to young college students.

There is a preconceived notion around especially in the West, that Yoga is a workout regime and that you have to sweat it out in Warrior movements. One has to grow out of that notion and think Yoga as a tool to improve health through a process which includes movement and stretching of muscles with breath control being primary. Yes Yoga works wonders for sustainable weight loss with time  and improve flexibility if you are willing to devote your time in your practice every single day. This is a practice and not Workout in a way that, what practice you choose to do depends on how your body feels that day and not to push beyond limits to stress. It’s purely a mindful movement practice one must be aware of. There are days you do emergetic practice and there are days you do restorative relaxing one. Also the flexibility to tailor your own practice with the set of asanas varying between morning/afternoon and evening is what makes Yoga a practice and not a workout. So come and join me in this wonderful journey through Yoga!

Takeaway: "Yogas chitta vritti nirodha" is a line from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. It refers to stilling the mind in order to experience Ultimate Reality. When our thoughts are calm and our mind in its natural state of tranquility, we can move toward Self-realization. 🙏
