About this pro

As an integrative health practitioner, I am strongly committed to peoples' health and wellbeing. I offer personal training, yoga, mindfulness/guided meditation, group exercise classes, active capabilities therapy, and grief-based dementia therapy.

One element that separates me from other integrative health professionals and personal trainers is my incorporation of nature. Our work together will be grounded in a natural setting (in a park, the woods, ocean, etc.) in-person (at my office [in Wright Park Conservatory], outdoors or at your home facing nature or viewing a picture of nature) or on-line (facing nature or viewing an image of nature).

Our first session will be about 60 minutes, where we will co-participate in a comprehensive review of your health and history. By the end of our first session, we will begin to create an in-depth individualized plan.

Getting to play every day is such a gift. I feel very privileged to join you on your wellbeing journey, to explore the mind-body landscape. I have so much to learn and enjoy exploring the wonders of our body-mind and how these change (or don't) as we age.

Adrienne has extensive knowledge and experience with Eastern and Western medical practices. Her approach to physical training of the whole body always makes me feel so strong, even on days when I feel every ache of my age - 86. And she is so gentle incorporating stuff that helps me with the intense sadness and loos when my husband died. There's something about her that makes me feel like she's a kind, suportive, and encouraging mom, something I didn't have.

How did you get started teaching?

I was a residential counselor, in San Diego, offering 1:1 and group therapy sessions with 6 males. I noticed a stationary bike outside near where one resident would smoke cigarettes back to back prior to our sessions. I thought, I wonder what impact them riding a bike would have on our sessions. I was curious if it made a difference of where the physical activity took place in relation to the talk therapy session (before or after). Being an athlete, I thought, what if we do it at the same time: both of us engaged in a physical activity while also exploring the sessions' topics. I moved from San Diego to Tacoma, WA for, what I anticipated at the time, a brief moment. I fell in love. Tacoma is amazing. I sought out a volunteer opportunity at the downtown YMCA, serving "active older adults" (as is called by the Y). Following an aqua aerobics session I led, I was listening to some class members and recognized a real need in this community to meet the needs of people long-living (all of the needs - and from a whole-person approach). Thus, in 2012 Silver Linings was born.
