About
I'm passionate about seeing my students get results. The joy of making progress towards ones musical goals is exciting for the student and for the teacher, and the positive energy created spills into many other areas of life.
My lessons focus on building a solid foundation in technique, harmony & theory and vocabulary. Once we determine what the students goals are I create a plan customized for each student that is fun, challenging and effective.
I've been teaching for over 15 years in music stores and private studios in California and Washington state. Several of my students have gone on to play in bands and tour. Some have even become teachers themselves. Whether you want to play in a band, record your own music or even just play for fun I welcome all students with a sincere desire to learn.
I play professionally in the hard rock/metal band FireWolfe and use all the things I've learned in my own musical journey to help others with theirs.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I determine what the students goals are and create a lesson plan based on those goals. Weekly lessons focus on developing a solid foundation in technique, harmony & theory and vocabulary. We work hard but make sure and have lots of fun along the way!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taught guitar lessons for over 15 years in music stores and private studios.
I'm also a recording artist and performer and well versed in songwriting, arranging and recording.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching as friends and family asked for my help in learning to play the guitar. From there I went on teach in music stores in California and private studios in Washington state.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students as diverse as 9 year old kids to police officers to grandparents. Most of my students are into rock music and offshoots like blues and metal.
Many of my students have been casual hobbyists and others have become professional musicians working as teachers or in bands.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think through what their goals are for their guitar playing. Questions like: What style of music do I want to become proficient at? What skills do I want to improve? Do I want to play in a band? Do I want to write songs and record my own music?
