I like to think my forte is showing students what they need to practice in order to jump right in and jam with other people. To excell with my teaching style, a student need not know how to read music or tabulature. Also, absolutley no musical ability or previous experience is needed other than a good sense of rhythm.
I enjoy watching my students enjoying playing music with others. I've been playing stringed instruments for 61 years and jamming is the ultimate experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to determine what the prospetive student's ultimate goal is in learning to play an instrument.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was an elementary school teacher for 25 years and have been playing music for over six decades. I enjoy teaching ukulele, mandolin, banjo and upright bass.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lessons are $20 an hour--$50 an hour if the student hasn't practiced (which I can determine in 15 seconds.)
How did you get started teaching?
Have always been good at showing the basic steps in learning how to jam.
What types of students have you worked with?
As long as the student is motivated, that's all I need to be successful.

Any and all Bluegras festivals. The North County Bluegrass and Folk Club monthy meeting and open mic jam.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who is interested in your goal and motive for wanting to learn to play an instrument.
