About
I am professional yet easy-going 28 years old musician and started teaching when I was 17. Before attending California State University, Long Beach (where I earned Master's of Music in Jazz Performance), I was part of many honor bands around the San Francisco Bay Area, including the SFJAZZ All-Stars and the Contra Costa County Honor Band. I have played every type of music imaginable in a myriad of venues all across the Bay Area and around the world including the SFJAZZ Center, the Herbst Theatre, and the Pacific Rim Festival. I have played in front of audiences ranging from avid music fans to mayors to CEOs.
If you'd like to learn how to improve your skills on the guitar, be it playing folk music or jazz improvisation, consider taking lessons from me. I have a thorough background in many sorts of music and would love to share some of my knowledge with you.
I accept students of all ages and skill levels, ranging from six year old beginners to older people who are looking to improve their skills.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically take the first lesson to get to know the student as well as assess their goals in pursuing guitar lessons. I then start them off on a simple, first assignment to get them excited about practicing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's of Music from California State University: Long Beach.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students in a diverse age range: from early childhood through adulthood. I have coached students through formal programs like the ABRSM Exam in classical guitar and AP Music Test as well as worked with students in less formal settings where we go at a pace that the student sets.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for the teacher that is as excited about what you are trying to learn as you are and is capable of playing what you are trying to learn. This doesn't neccesarily need to be the most credentialed teacher.
