How did you get started teaching?
I was in bands since high school and have always been teaching my friends how to play the guitar for fun. After my training in the classical guitar I've grown to develop a passion for teaching the classical guitar because of its broad depth of music and technique involved in playing the instrument.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught students as young as 4 years old using the Suzuki guitar method as well as middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults.
My students have either started as complete beginners, had some experience with playing other styles of guitar, or have majored in music in college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would highly recommend studying the classical guitar with a qualified teacher. The technique involved with learning the classical guitar is intricate and it's important to develop good habits from the beginning in order to play well and reduce the chance for injury.
