I have toured around the world with bands such as Guns N Roses, Dokken, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt and Metallica. I have studio experience. Over 20+ experience in teaching, touring and recording. I specialize in rock, metal, blues, fingerstyle, pop acoustic, and classical music. I can teach beginners how to start correctly yet learn fast from techniques I developed myself and learned from guitar masters such as Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Steve Vai and George Lynch themselves. I can also teach advanced techniques, artist development, live and gear consultation.

About Me:

Teaches students: Ages 5+

Teaching since: 1992

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.

My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.

Lessons are held using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.

A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.

*** Specialties ***

I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and challenge them, as well.

I also have new techniques for teaching Electric, Acoustic and Classical Guitar.

I had been playing guitar and writing songs for well over a decade, self taught prior to taking lessons with Ahmad. I was looking for someone to help me fill in the gaps of my hodgepodge musical knowledge and help me establish a solid foundation of music theory understanding. Within just a few lessons I grew more as a musician than I had over the past few years. Ahmad is extremely knowledgable, encouraging, and has a knack for making things make sense. A great teacher, and pleasure to be around. I highly recommend him!

From the first day, Ahmad has crafted lessons tailored specifically to my goals and skill set. I already had a decent idea about how to get around the guitar, but I wanted someone to help me get to the next level, to understand the guitar completely. Ahmad is incredibly knowledgable about the instrument and theory, perceptive to learning habits, and overall a fun person to be around. Hes also incredibly patient about working around schedules. I cant recommend him enough!

Extremely talented guitar player, with a great approach to teaching. Of the things people tried to show me in the past, most of the time the pace was too slow- and there was way too much unfocused information coming at you just to waste time. The first lesson Ahmad pinpointed exactly where I was in my playing, and then he took direct steps to get me exactly where I need to go. No unnecessary work to waste your money- and he really challenges you. With a Berklee degree, you cant possibly know more than he does so there is a ton of trust for me in what we are learning and the accuracy of the information. Hes a very gifted teacher, and is as passionate about being a teacher as he is about being a guitar player. Hes also a great hang. Your the man Ahmad!

Ahmad is an incredible teacher. He can take the most complex lessons and turn it into what feels like a beginners lesson, due to his experienced music background. His patience, even for beginners, is so rare for teachers with such a great background like Ahmad. He even told me I love to teach what else could you ask for from a potential teacher?

I have owned a guitar for 9 years and only barely picked it up when I was in college. I wanted to start learning again. Ahmad had great reviews and a promo deal going on so I thought it seemed like a worthwhile and local option.
I was not wrong! Ahmad is a very knowledgeable, patient, and fun teacher. He is always flexible and willing to work with me and my busy schedule and even goes over if we didnt get through all the material he wanted to cover. He gives great instruction on the technical side but also includes fun exercises to help make it entertaining as well. Would highly recommend Ahmad for anyone from beginner to someone whos been looking to enhance their skills even at an advanced level.

As an educator, I have a deep appreciation for good teaching and Ahmad is a good teacher. Walking in, I knew NOTHING -not even how to really hold the guitar. Ahmad has a ton of experience playing and also really knows his stuff. Hes able to break everything down in a way that doesnt overwhelm you and his approach of teaching theory, practicing skills, and then learning parts of songs brings the knowledge and skill together and makes you excited to keep learning!
