About
My lessons are ONE HOUR, once a week, and only $40 per lesson! Lessons are in-person, NO internet lessons. Most other teachers will not even offer a one-hour lesson, and if they do, they'll charge $60 and up! I also include basic guitar maintenance (string changes, truss rod, etc., performed outside the lesson hour).
DO NOT pay $30 for 30 minute lessons in a cramped, little room at a music store or school. Pay only $40 for 1 hour lessons in a spacious, comfortable living room at my home in east Simi Valley! (Where I live with my mom and my cat).
I enjoy the satisfaction of helping someone learn something new and fun that they can bring to others. Teaching is very satisfying (I also have past experience teaching in a middle school).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, a new guitar student needs to know how to tune a guitar. Then we start with a chord and a scale and go from there. Additionally, the student is greatly encouraged to bring their favorite songs to lessons, so that we can choose one to start learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since high school, and I have a B.A. in Music (Minor in Audio Recording) from CSU Dominguez Hills.
I am a formally trained singer. I sang in the Moorpark Masterworks Chorale Boy's Choir when I was 10, took private voice lessons in high school, and was First Tenor in the elite university Chamber Choir for five semesters at CSUDH.
My high school/college garage band almost made it, so I can tell you all about how to be in a band, and the highs and lows that go with it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $40 per 1 hour session. Basic guitar maintenance is included in this price (string changes and truss rod adjustment).
How did you get started teaching?
I love music, and I love teaching. I began a teaching credential years ago, and spent time assisting at Balboa Middle School in Ventura for a semester. Even in that limited time there, it was very rewarding. I am committed to teaching now full time, something I should have done a while ago.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both children and adults. I specialize in the beginning student. I teach you how to teach yourself, so that in time, you won't need me or any other teacher to learn new things; you can resource them yourself!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my brother's friends told me that I inspired him to start playing guitar when he heard me play many years ago. It was very uplifting.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
NEVER take internet lessons! In-person lessons are the only way to go. "Phoning-in" the lessons has long been a problem with mediocre teachers. Now, teachers are LITERALLY phoning-in their lessons via Skype, etc. Accompaniment is a key part of my lessons and cannot be achieved with the inherent latency of internet connections. Also, NEVER take group lessons. One on one is the only way to get instruction that is specific to you and your needs
