About

My teaching approach: Guitar teaching ideal for beginner students of all ages as well as intermediate students.Use songs with chords included to teach first position chording. Also teach scales, strumming patterns and fingering techniques.More advanced students learn second and third position chording, more complex strumming patterns and fingering techniques as well as some basic theory. Students may also bring in their favorite cd's and songs which will be incorporated in the lessons. My influences are: My most important influence in guitar teaching is my dad who taught guitar for over 50 years.I enjoy using "retro" songs from musical groups such as the Beatles, CCR and others in my lessons. I also incorporate folk music as popularized by such artists as John Denver,Bob Dylan,Peter,Paul and Mary,Woody Guthrie.etc.I use standard "children's" songs for younger students. My guitar lessons take place in: The student's home Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Fort Collins, Loveland,Windsor,Longmont,Greeley and Berthoud Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Scales and Exercises Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: An introductory lesson includes introducing the various parts of a guitar; how to navigate a guitar;what makes a guitart "work" as well as a number of basic chords. If needed, more simpler chord formations are taught first with expansion of the fingering accomplished over time. At least 2 songs are learned for the first lesson. The student's playing ability is assessed by observing how the student forms the chords as well hearing the sound quality. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: A typical guitar lesson would include teaching chords and applying these chords in actual songs.Attention to correct fingering is an important part of each lesson.A planned lesson is given with opportunities for spontaneous learning as well.Having fun in learning the guitar is also an important element in each lesson. Attention is also given to the individual needs of each student. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: My ideal student would have a passion to learn the guitar with a desire to reach their highest potential in playing. They would be attentive and committed to practicing between lessons. The student would enjoy learning and find fun and satisfaction in their guitar playing development. My ideal student would also have some exposure to at least one instrument played by a family member or friend.

My passion is to provide guitar lessons with the hope of inspiring my students to continue to grow and develop their musical skills. I have extensive experience in teaching guitar. I have taught pupils as young as 6 years old all the way to senior citizens. My lessons are designed to bring the most out of my students and as such are custom fitted to meet the individual needs of my students.
