About this pro

Hi, I'm Bob Croft. I've taught guitar lessons privately since 1978. I've taught at several music stores over the years, and I have also taught guitar at the University on Colorado at Denver.I teach fundamental musical skills and apply them to whatever kind of music motivates you. This includes basic techniques, warming up, how to practice, how to read music (standard musical notation, chord symbols, rhythmic notation, TAB), ear training, music theory, and improvisation. I address a wide variety of playing techniques in a thorough and musical manner. I also work with non-beginners who may need help with audition preparation, or to address gaps in their skill set to elevate their playing, or prepare them for musical settings that may be outside their stylistic comfort zone. I'm also a highly experiences music transcriptionist. Capable of doing note for note transcriptions, as well as adaptations and arrangements to suit the level of the individual student. I'm a published composer with 24 years of experience which includes getting airplay worldwide on both TV and radio. I'm the author of the book, "Reading Chops For Guitarists," which is a specialized guitar text that has sold hundreds of copies throughout the USA. As a performer, I have played guitar for numerous shows including shows produced by Starkey Productions, as well as Second City Works. I've played in bands that have opened of Reba McEntire, Michael Martin Murphy, Kenny Loggins, John Denver, Lou Rawls, and others. I currently perform regularly with several bands, as well as a solo guitarist.Education & Honors • Bachelor of Science in Music (Scoring & Arranging emphasis) CU-Denver 1991 • (Graduated cum laude) • All State Jazz Guitarist 1978 as selected by the National Association of Jazz Educators • All State Jazz Guitarist 1977 as selected by the National Association of Jazz Educators • Outstanding Musician Award, Rocky Mountain Jazz Band Festival, 1977 • Awarded by Dr. Wm FowlerTeaching Experience • Private Guitar Instruction 1978 - Present • Honorary Music Faculty, CU-Denver - Applied Guitar, Pop Music Ensemble 1998

Bob is an amazing teacher and an inspiration to us beginners.

My son has been instructed by Bob for many years now. This, in and of itself, is a testament to Bob's gift as a teacher. My son doesn't practice as much as he should, but he does not like to miss his lessons. We recently added a second lesson for him to work on Bass, as well. We are very pleased with Bob and highly recommend him.

Bob is an excellent guitar teacher! I have a B.A. in music and came to him for some additional jazz/theory lessons and he was able to teach me new scales, chords, and progressions that I had not known. He is patient, friendly, and he can work with students of any level. Highly Recommend!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I evaluate every student to find out where they're at, and what they want to get out of their guitar lessons.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been teaching guitar lessons for over 35 years. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Music from the University of Colorado at Denver. Where I have also been an honorary faculty member as an Applied Guitar instructor, as well as the director of their pop music ensemble.

I was the senior composer for Brown Bag Productions for over 17 years. A music library company now owned by Premiere Radio Networks, part of Clear Channel Communications. After that I was the senior composer and sound designer for High Definition Music, which is another music production library, and on air imaging service for TV & radio broadcasters.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
