I love passing on the passion, and skills to my students to play and enjoy music of various styles and genres. Exposing new music and having students share thier music with me. Also I love performing music as a portion of my living in addition to teaching.

With new students that have previous guitar experience I assess their level of competence, then develop a lesson plan that fills gaps in knowledge by using a detailed outline of the points of guitar playing, technique as well as music theory.
For beginning students I start with the basics of chords, reading standard notation and lead sheets, then we work into scales, rhythm, theory and ear training.
I have studied under various local professors, in guitar, piano and voice and I have perfomed locally and nationally for over 30 years.

Try to find a teacher with not only a solid education and musical background, but one with a proven track record of performance and successful student accomplishments.
What are my short term musical goals? What are my long term goals? How much time can I dedicate to practice and improvement? What skills do I really want to gain from my lessons and my teacher? Do my expectaions and needs match what the teacher presents?
