Chuck Fisher, a guitarist with over 40 years of professional experience, is a musician and an entertainer with many levels of musical talent. Born in Detroit, Michigan, his music has developed in Colorado. He studied music at the University of Colorado and privately under various professors from many colleges a Universities. His training also has included voice and piano from many noted professors. Over the years he has played solo and in a wide variety of bands from R&B and Classic Rock, to Blues and Jazz Fusion. Chuck was a founding member of the local Denver Jazz recording act Minus Zero. He has performed with various Denver acts such as: The Tunisia band, Hazel Miller, Soul School, Chase N’ the Dream, Ron Ivory, Vintage, and Diana Wood to name a few, he is currently doing solo and duo show as the Watts Up Duo. He has opened for such national acts as: Little Feat, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, The Four Tops, Confunction, and Nestor Torres. He has performed with National acts the likes of the Drifters and Robin E.
Chuck performs nationally and locally and has taught at Universal Music for 28 years instructing numerous students who progressed into various musical opportunities including; recording artists, music schools and colleges.
I love passing on the passion, and skills to my students to play and enjoy music of various styles and genres. Exposing new music and having students share thier music with me. Also I love performing music as a portion of my living in addition to teaching.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students that have previous guitar experience I assess their level of competence, then develop a lesson plan that fills gaps in knowledge by using a detailed outline of the points of guitar playing, technique as well as music theory.
For beginning students I start with the basics of chords, reading standard notation and lead sheets, then we work into scales, rhythm, theory and ear training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied under various local professors, in guitar, piano and voice and I have perfomed locally and nationally for over 30 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lessons are $30 per half hour taught at Universal Music Store in Thornton CO.
How did you get started teaching?
I started with a couple students at home, then went on to start teaching at Universal Music over 28 years ago as a subcontractor.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught all types of students from all types of backgrounds. Kids at the age of 5 up to adults at the age of 75. If someone has a passion to learn I have the passion to teach them.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Helping one of my top students prepare and then to get into M.I. in L.A. by means of some of my varoius levels of teaching material to me writing a lettter of recommendation to help him get accepted.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to find a teacher with not only a solid education and musical background, but one with a proven track record of performance and successful student accomplishments.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my short term musical goals? What are my long term goals? How much time can I dedicate to practice and improvement? What skills do I really want to gain from my lessons and my teacher? Do my expectaions and needs match what the teacher presents?
