Pines Iyengar Yoga

Pines Iyengar Yoga

About

Pines Iyengar Yoga came into existence 4 years ago after tirelessly searching for options, that focused on yoga's natural approach to managing pain.

I assumed the roles of owner and director, out of my desire to share the therapeutic techniques learned from my fifteen(15) years of experience studying and practicing yoga.

My personal journey began after two car accidents one week apart. They resulted in muscle spasms, multiple prescriptions to pain medication, stress and intense fatigue. I found yoga after my physiotherapist recommended it as means of managing the pain.

After three(3) sessions I had overcome the physical limitations and went on to discover a healthier and more grounded version of myself that had not existed before. In fact there began my passion for the therapeutic applications of yoga that exists to this day.

After over 1500 hours of training, and over a decade of client contact, I am now a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I am also a Certified Teacher in the Iyengar Method, a method which provides a safe and systematic approach for learning yoga.

At Pines Iyengar Yoga, we specialize in therapeutic applications of yoga to common conditions and injury, regardless of your level of fitness. Whether it be back pain, shoulder injury or high blood pressure, book your session now so that you can experience the full depths of what yoga has to provide.

Frequently asked questions

New students go through an initial consultation lasting 15 minutes.  In that session I assess the physical condition of the student and determine the best way the yoga session can be tailored for them.

I came to yoga after two car accidents one week apart.

My physiotherapist recommended me to a yoga teacher who had spent some time studying with the world's foremost authority on yoga, BKS Iyengar.

That teacher was diagnosed with muliple scleroris several years back and had used yoga as a means of eradicating the symptoms of the disease.

After three sessions with her my own muscle spasms disappeared and as I continued with the lessons I discovered a happier and more grounded version of myself.

After several years of being just a student I went on to teach in studios in Hallendale and Boca before deciding to open my own studio in Pembroke Pines.

The conditions of the students I have worked with include:

1. Herniated Discs (Lumbrar and cervical)

2. Backpain

3. Fibromyalgia

4. Pregnancy

5. Knee Injury

6. Hip Injury

7. High Blood Pressure

8. Depression

9. Asthma

10. Heart Palpitations

11. Multiple Sclerosis

I am particularly proud of my progress with a student with fibromyalgia recently. She came to me for one-on-one's since she was constantly in such unbearable pain.  By the third one-on-one session we had fully identified the source of her discomfort and determined the best group of poses to assist her.  Now she is able to perform many of her daily activities with much less pain.

The advice I would give is to do research on their qualifications.
